Marcello Simoni was born in Comacchio in 1975. After graduating in Literature, he worked for several years as an archaeologist, historical essayist, and librarian until he decided to devote himself entirely to fiction. He has published several works on etruscology and medieval studies. His first novel, Il mercante di libri maledetti (2011, published by Newton Compton), won the 60th Bancarella Prize. His subsequent work, which is very extensive and divided between various publishing houses, has established him as a master of historical crime and thriller writing. Author of over thirty novels, he has been published abroad in twenty countries.
